Configuration
Step #1: Enable this feature
If the account only requires basic shifts, then no changes are necessary. If you are a Conversational ATS customer and you would like to use advanced shifts, then please contact a user with full access to Client Setup to enable this feature for you.
If you have this access, please follow the steps below.
- Select the All Apps button in the top left corner of the header and then Settings in its drop-down menu.
- When the Settings page opens, select Client Setup under the Paradox Tools section.
- Client Setup will then open. Scroll down to and open the Job Management section.
- Enable Allow Advanced Shifts.
- In the lower-right corner, select Save.

- In the Job Manager page, open an existing job or in the upper-right corner, select + Create New and then New Job from the dropdown menu.
- Navigate to the Overview step.
- Select + Add Shifts.
- In the Shifts slide-out drawer, you can configure your shifts from the following options within the Default Shifts tab. By default, you can add a maximum of five shifts. Shift options include:

-
Notes:
- If a shift does not have a set duration, select No Duration to indicate that the shift does not have a fixed number of hours.
- If you need to add multiple durations for different days, select + Add Duration. Note that each day of the week can only have one duration.
-
Notes:
- Select/deselect the days of the week that this shift will take place.
- Save the section.
- Repeat steps #6-7 for each shift type.
- When all shifts are added, move to step #3 below.
Editing Shifts:
- When you edit shifts on an active job, publish the job and ensure to update the active posting in My Jobs to make the changes visible to candidates.
- If the edits affect existing Screening & Outcomes configurations, update those settings as well.
Step #3: Use shift targeting (optional)
Shift targeting allows you to predetermine which shifts are tied to a job when specific Job or Location Attributes match the criteria you set on the job. While this isn't required, this can be a more efficient way to ensure that the necessary shifts will always be added to jobs and displayed accurately to users when turning jobs on in My Jobs.
To set shift targeting,
- Open the Shift Targeting tab.
- Select + Add Targeting to create a new rule.
- Enter a name for your targeting in the text box.
- Under the IF section, define your rule using the following fields:
- Targeting Rules – Select the job or location attribute that you want to target.
- Matches – Choose the match criteria for the audience from this selector.
- Input – Enter in the preferred value in this field.
- If needed, you are able to set a conditional rule or add an additional rule set in order to have certain conditions and criteria set within an audience.
- If AND is selected, both rules MUST be met together in order for the correct audience response to be outputted.
- If OR is selected, only ONE of the rules must be met in order for the correct audience response to be outputted.
- You can also add more rule sets by selecting + Add Rule Set.
- Under the THEN section, select the shift option checkboxes to apply the targeted shifts based on your rules.
- Select Save in the upper-right corner of this new targeting section.
- Repeat the above process for any additional targeting rules set for a job.
- In the lower-right corner, select Confirm to save your changes.
Step #4: Add screening outcomes
When you add shifts to a job, you can screen by shifts when you creating screening questions.
- Open the Screening section.
- Select + Add Question.
- Enter in the following details for your screening question:
- Question Name – A name for the question for internal reference.
- Conversation – The actual question the candidate will see.
- Reply Type – Select Shift Selection.
- Map reply to ATS field – (Optional) The specific field in your Applicant Tracking System (ATS) where the candidate's response will be stored.
- Is this question required? – A toggle to indicate if the candidate must answer this question to proceed.
- In the lower-right corner, select Save.
- Select + Add Outcome, and then choose your desired outcome from the dropdown menu.
- Create an outcome to match a candidate’s availability using the following options:
- At least – The candidate must be available for a minimum number of hours or shifts.
- At most – The candidate can be available for a maximum number of hours or shifts.
- Specific Shift(s) – The candidate must be available for one or more specific shifts chosen from a dropdown list of all available shifts for the job.
- Select Save in the bottom right corner of the drawer.
The Hours input will be disabled if duration or hours were not added to the shift in the Job Builder. If a specific shift is selected for screening but is not enabled in My Jobs, the candidate will not be screened for that shift.
