The Location Preference screening question is a question type in the Job Builder that allows candidates to select all of the potential work locations that they are interested in working at when applying for a job. These locations can be grouped together and assigned a unique attribute that can then be tied to the job.

Use cases

• A Hiring Manager/Recruiter who wants candidates to specify their preferred work locations when applying for a job, so that they can easily filter and match candidates to roles based on location compatibility.

Configuration

Follow the steps outlined here to configure this feature before adding a Location Preference screening question to your jobs.

Add a Location Preference screening question

1. Select the All Apps button in the top left corner of the header and then Settings in its drop-down menu.
2. When the Settings page opens, click Job Manager under the Jobs section.
3. Open the preferred job category and then job.
4. Navigate to the Screening section.
5. Select the + Add Question button.
6. In the drawer that opens, enter in the preferred screening question around the candidate’s preferred work location.
7. In the Reply section, select Location Preference as the Reply Type.
8. From the Preference Selection, choose Custom Location Attribute and then the Location Group Attribute tied to the locations that you want to show to the candidate. 
   • Notes: 
     • Only the locations with a value for the selected Location Attribute will be available for candidates to view and select.
     • The Available Locations option will display when multiple locations are added to a standard job type and a Location Preference screening question is added.
9. Select Save to add the screening question to the job.
10. Publish the job to mark it as active.

View Location Preferences throughout the system

Location preferences can be seen and utilized throughout the system for a more tailored experience when assessing candidates.

Filtering and segmentation

You can filter the Candidate Inbox and create segments based on the location preference.

Candidate Summary Builder

You can see the location preference assigned to a candidate in the Candidate Summary Builder.

Location Preference token

The Location Preference token was added to the system and can be used on communications, forms, offers, and other areas of the product. This will show the location name of the Custom Attribute assigned to that candidate.
