Tentative locations are temporary records created when the system cannot automatically find an exact match for a job's location data during the location mapping process. They require manual review and resolution to ensure data accuracy.
When no match is found during the location mapping process, a tentative location is created in Location Management and stored in the Location Mapping folder.
Resolve tentative locations
You can resolve flagged tentative location records by following the steps below:
- Select All Apps in the top left corner of the header and then Settings from its drop-down menu.
- In the Permissions section of the Settings page, select Location Management.
- On the left panel, select the Location Mapping folder.
- For every tentative location record, you can view the Requisition ID, the Location ID, and the amount of candidates assigned to the job. you can select from the following options:
Merge tentative locations with existing locations
You can merge a tentative location with an existing location by following the steps below:
- Select the Merge with Existing button.
- Select the desired location to add the tentative location into.
- In the lower-right corner, select the Merge Locations button.
- Confirm your decision in the warning message that appears.
All jobs previously tied to the tentative location will then reference the merged location's ID, and the merged location will adopt the formal location's name.
- Note: You can merge up to 5 tentative locations at a time. If this limit is reached, further merge actions will be temporarily blocked until one of the current batches completes processing.
If a tentative location has more than 2,000 candidates assigned to it, you cannot select the Merge with Existing button.
To work around this, you can add the tentative location as a new location, update the location information, and delete the location that it was intended to merge with.
Add tentative location as a new location
You can add a tentative location as a new location by following the steps below:
- Select the + Add Location button.
- Select the desired folder to add the tentative location to.
- On the left, enter the desired location name in the Location name text box.
- In the lower-right corner, select the Add Location button.
- Confirm your decision in the warning message that appears.
All jobs previously tied to the tentative location will then reference the new location’s Location ID.
Currently, tentative locations can be generated with invalid or missing state data. If the tentative location has an invalid or missing state for Canada (CA), United States (US), or Australia (AU), a prompt appears asking you to assign a valid state and/or country before completing the conversion.
Tentative location naming conventions
- If a location name is provided in the job feed, it is used as the tentative location name.
- If a location name is not provided in the job feed, the system auto-generates a name using the format: "Tentative Location" + a random 6-digit number (e.g., "Tentative Location 123456").
