This process is followed when you have the GryphonHR integration configured for your account.
Once an offer is sent to the new hire and they accept it, you will first send the onboarding form that includes Section I of the I-9. This document outlines the new hire's process in completing this document.

When the onboarding form opens, the new hire will first enter in their personal information and then will be asked to fill out the first section of the I-9. When clicking Get Started, the screen will open to the Paradox I-9 portal, where they will complete the I-9 portion of their form.
Important Note: If the new hire has already completed a Form I-9 for your company within the Paradox I-9 portal, they will be allowed to skip this section within the onboarding form. After completing all required fields within the Personal Information section, they can bypass the Form I-9 page and submit their form.
While the questions presented in the Form I-9 Section 1 will vary depending on the state, the sections will include the following topics:
-
Introduction – This section provides the instructions and additional links associated with Section 1 of I-9.
-
Name and Address – This section is where the new hire enters in their full name and current street address.
-
SSN and Additional Information – This section includes questions about the new hire’s Social Security Number, date of birth, and contact information.
-
Citizenship Info – This section includes questions around U.S. citizenship.
-
Review and Attest – This section previews all of the previous sections questions and answers for you to review and sign.
-
Assistance Used? – This section inquires whether the new hire received assistance from a translator in completing their I-9.
-
Thank You – This section thanks the new hire for completing the form and provides insights into working with their hiring manager on completing Section 2, including the need for original documentation that proves their identity.
Once the new hire submits their first section of the I-9, they will be redirected back to the onboarding form where they will click through each section and review the final entry before clicking Submit.
The new hire’s status will automatically update to the Hired - Need I-9 Part 2 Completed status. The hiring manager will need to click this next step button in order to fill out their portion of the I-9. Click here to learn more.
