Add follow-up questions to a conversation Follow up conversation Step #1: Create the conversation Step #2: Add conversation to a job

With the help of your CS Representative, you can add follow-up screening questions to conversations where the question limits are met and will be sent to a candidate if they meet certain screening criteria after the prescreening questions are completed. A follow-up conversation can also be created and added in the Conversation stage of a Candidate Journey.

Add follow-up questions to a conversation

When enabled for your account, you can add follow-up questions to your conversations.

Follow Up questions will only be available when the maximum number of questions are added to:

    • A Single Path conversation (5 Global Screening questions)
    • A Multi Path conversation (4 Global Screening questions)

When the maximum number of questions are added, the Follow-Up Criteria section will then display. Follow the steps below to add your follow-up questions.

    1. Hover over the Follow-Up Criteria box to view a + icon.
    2. Click this icon.
    3. A new question box will display. Name and enter the question.
    4. Repeat steps #2-3 for all follow-up questions. You can only add up to 10 follow-up questions that are unique to this conversation.
      • Note: When 2 or more questions are added in the Follow-Up Criteria section, an automated message will display and be included in the conversation. This message cannot be edited.
    5. (Optional) By default, the questions added here will always be asked. To set up criteria for these follow-up questions,
      1. Click the pencil icon in the top right corner of this box.

      2. Select a question from the main conversation.
      3. A Screen for section will then be added next to the selected question where you can set your screening criteria.
      4. Click + AND and/or + OR in order to create more complex criteria, as needed.
      5. Click Save.
    6. Complete the rest of your conversation.
    7. Click the Draft status and then click Publish to finalize the conversation.

    Follow up conversation

You can create an entire follow-up conversation and tie it to the Conversation stage of a job's Candidate Journey.

    Step #1: Create the conversation

    1. Click the App Apps button in the top right corner of the top ribbon.
    2. Click the Settings app.
    3. Click Conversation Builder in the Automation section of the Settings page.
    4. Click the + Add Conversation button.
    5. Select Add New Conversation in its drop-down menu.
    6. When the Conversation Builder opens, name the new conversation.
    7. Select Follow Up as the Template.
    8. Select the Candidate Journey that will be tied to this follow up conversation. The selected Candidate Journey must have the Conversation stage included.
      • Note: Clicking the action menu, or three dot icon, after this selector will allow you to tie a System Attribute to this field, if preferred.
    9. Enter in your Global Screening questions, or the questions that will screen the candidate for any jobs that are tied to this conversation.
    10. Adjust the Closing message, if preferred.
    11. Set the Screening and Actions for this conversation based on the candidate’s responses. The screening criteria can use a combination of the Candidate Journey field and Global Screening section in order to define the screening criteria and then assign the preferred action when that criteria is met. Available actions include:
      • Assign to – This allows a candidate to be associated with a particular recruiter/user.
      • Move to – This will move candidates into different Journey statuses.
      • Override Closing Message – This will override the conversation’s closing message.
      • Schedule – This will send an interview request.
      • Schedule to Event – This will schedule the candidate to an event.
      • Trigger Tracking Pixel – This will track candidate behavior.
    12. Click the Draft status and then Publish to finalize the conversation.

Step #2: Add conversation to a job

Once the conversation is created, you will have to update the job that utilizes the Candidate Journey you selected when building your follow up conversation.

    1. Click the App Apps button in the top right corner of the top ribbon.
    2. Click the Settings app.
    3. Click Jobs in the Jobs section of the Settings page.
    4. When the Jobs page opens, open the preferred job.
    5. Navigate to the Candidate Journey section.
    6. Select the follow up conversation you created for the Conversation stage.
    7. Click Save.
    8. Click the Draft status and then Publish to update the job.
