Create Custom Attributes manually/individually Create/Import Custom Attributes in Bulk Export Custom Attributes FAQs Can Custom Candidate Attributes be used in WhatsApp Templates?

Custom System Attributes can be created either manually or in bulk and used throughout the system to best reflect relevant areas that clients want to monitor or track with their candidates. Once created, Custom Attributes can easily be exported from one account to then transfer over to another account as needed.

    Create Custom Attributes manually/individually

You can create up to 5 different dynamic Custom Attributes for the Education, Address, and Experience categories. Click here to learn how.

    1. Navigate to the System Attributes page.
    2. Click the preferred attribute type from the left panel.
    3. Click the + Add Custom Attribute button that appears in the top right corner above the list.
    4. In the slide-out drawer that opens, name the attribute in the Attribute Name field.
      • Note: Enter in a unique name, as no two attributes can have the same name.
    5. Click the Attribute Type. If you choose List Select, review this documentation to learn how to create and utilize list select-enabled System Attributes.
    6. The Key Name field will automatically populate with the attribute name and an underscore in between each word (if more than one). You can edit this field, if needed, but ensure that no spaces are included.
    7. Enter in the Attribute Description.
    8. You can set the Attribute Privacy Settings, if needed. These include:
      • None – This will display the attribute wherever attributes are listed in the system.
      • Encrypt – This will only show asterisks in the UI, will have encrypted values in the database, and will be masked when using the public API when pulling candidate attribute values. Examples of enabling this setting: Social Security Number, banking information, and sensitive information that vendors should not have free access to view.
      • Mask – This will prevent the attribute from being displayed within the Candidate Inbox and will display all asterisks when a value is present. Examples of enabling this setting: race and gender.
    9. By default, this attribute will be included in reports. Toggle off Add attribute to report if your client would prefer to not include it in reports.

For custom attributes, the Add attributes to reports toggle does not affect the availability of custom attributes in the report builder. All custom attributes configured for an account will be available as fields and filters, regardless of the toggle's state.

    1. Click Create to add the attribute.

    Create/Import Custom Attributes in Bulk

Only up to 300 lines of a file can be imported for Custom Attributes.

Create your custom attributes by completing the steps below.

    1. Make a copy of this example file.
    2. Enter in the new attributes and save this file to your desktop computer.
      • Note: The title of this file must be equal or less than 100 characters for a successful upload.
    3. Navigate to the System Attributes page.
    4. Click the action menu, or ellipses, in the header portion of the left panel.
    5. Click Import Custom Attributes from the dropdown that appears.

    6. An Import Custom Attributes modal will then appear where you can drag and drop the saved file or click to browse your computer for your file. You may also enter in your email address (or a client’s email address) to have the system notify you when the import is completed.

    7. Click Import to upload the file.
      • Note: Only CSV files can be imported successfully.
    8. If imported correctly, a success bar will display in the bottom middle portion of the screen. If imported incorrectly, it is due to one of the following:
      • The file is not a CSV file.
      • The file does not have the correct format (matching the above template).

    Export Custom Attributes

You can export custom attributes as needed to then import into another account for implementation purposes.

    1. Navigate to the System Attributes page.
    2. Click the action menu, or ellipses, in the header portion of the left panel.
    3. Click Export Custom Attributes from the dropdown that appears.

    4. An Export Custom Attributes modal will open where you can select one or more categories that should be exported.
    5. Click Apply.

    6. Enter the email address(es) that this file will be sent to.
    7. Click Send for the export process to begin. Once completed, the email addresses listed will receive the exported file as a CSV.
