Source Tracking allows you to view the sources that have the highest impact in attracting candidates to apply your jobs. This can be done from the Source Tracking page, where you can input the keys your team utilizes and share them with your sourcing partners. As candidates apply, these data points will be tracked and displayed in charts on the Source Tracking dashboard for easy review and analysis.
Navigation
Navigate to the Source Tracking page by first clicking the All Apps button in the top left corner of the screen and then the Settings app from the dropdown that appears. When the Settings page opens, click Source Tracking under the Platform section.
Source Tracking page

The Source Tracking page hosts all UTM parameters for easy tracking. Urchin Tracking Module (UTM) parameters are five variants of URL parameters used by marketers to track the effectiveness of online marketing campaigns across traffic sources and publishing media. These variants include:
-
Source ID – (utm_source) This parameter specifies the traffic source, such as Google, Bing, or Facebook. Sources are tracked based on the following, depending on which method is deemed more appropriate based on the specific use case, and in the below order:
- URL Parameters
- Cookies
- Pixels
New accounts will include the following default Source ID parameters:
- source
- utm_source
- source_id
- Medium – (utm_medium) This parameter specifies the marketing medium, such as email, banner, or CPC.
- Campaign – (utm_campaign) This parameter is used to identify a specific marketing campaign.
- Term – (utm_term) This parameter is used to track paid search keywords.
- Content – (utm_content) This parameter differentiates similar content, such as two different ads.
An additional Other option allows you to enter in an additional sixth category that you may want to track, such as Affiliate ID, GPS Coordinates, or Demographic.
Parameters
Different Sourcing Partners may use a variance in how they structure their UTM keys. The CEM can easily support this use case in order to track multiple Sourcing Partners who use varied UTM key formats for the same category.

- The special characters period (.), dash (-), asterisk (*), and underscore ( _ ).

-
Notes:
- Click Save to add the source/UTM key.
Important Note: If a Sourcing Partner uses more than one URL parameter for a single category, then the first key listed will be prioritized for tracking.
Remove parameters

You can easily remove a URL parameter by clicking the trash can icon listed to the right of its field. Ensure to save the page after a change is made.
- Note: The trash icon will only display when two or more fields are listed for a given UTM parameter category.
Custom Tracking Categories
You can create up to 25 custom Source Tracking Categories with up to 10 total sources per category.
You can add non-standard or custom Source Tracking Categories to your account to help handle more complex use cases and track a wider range of data for candidate sourcing traffic. To add additional categories, follow the steps below.
