Candidates with a military background are most familiar with their MOS code rather than the civilian equivalents or similar roles. An MOS code is the code of the position someone served in while in a branch of the military. Since these titles don’t have obvious associations with civilian jobs or the more standard job titles used across industries, candidates may prefer to search by MOS code rather than assume their qualifications.

• Clients actively seeking to recruit candidates with military experience.

Configuration

Users with full access to Client Setup can complete the below steps.

1. Select All Apps in the top left corner of the header and then Settings from its drop-down menu.
2. When the Settings page opens, select Client Setup in the Paradox Tools section.
3. Client Setup will then open. From the left panel, scroll down to and open Job Search.
4. Toggle on the Enable advanced search setting.
5. Scroll up on this page until you find the Search parameters selector. Click into this field and then select MOS Translator from its drop-down menu.
6. Save the page.

MOS search logic

The following process will occur in Job Search.

1. The candidate enters in their MOS code (e.g. “92G”) in their conversation with your AI Assistant.
2. The system will digest this code and find the civilian job that most is equivalent to that code (e.g. “92G” = “Culinary Specialist").
3. The system will then match the civilian job equivalent to your indexed jobs to determine if any jobs match it (e.g. “Culinary Specialist” = “Cook” position)
4. Your AI Assistant will return the matched jobs to the candidate within their conversation (e.g., your AI Assistant will provide all “Cook” and food preparation-related open positions).

Additional logic

• The Multilingual feature is supported in MOS Search. When a candidate searches with their MOS code and the job's language matches their language, then relevant jobs will be returned in the candidate's language. However, if the job's language doesn't match the candidate's language, then relevant jobs will be returned in English.

Limitations

• MOS job search doesn't support multiple keywords.
• MOS job search only supports searching job titles via Google Talent Cloud and doesn’t support searching by job categories.
• The system only supports the search of MOS codes with greater than or equal to 4 characters. This ensures that this logic doesn't overlap with searching by zip code.
